FAQ

Using the site

Can people see your name when you post, comment, chat, or send a private message?

Nope! You are 100% anonymous at all times.

How do I create an account?

Click "Sign Up" on the right sidebar of your school's page.

Why should I create an account?

  1. Easily track the locations you care about and get email/text notifications about them.
  2. Make sure you don’t lose private messages, chat histories, or your ability to comment as "Author" on your posts.
  3. Track the threads that you have commented on or liked.

Do I need to have an account?

You can use the site without one. But you cannot get email/text notifications and you will lose all of your messages, chats, and other data if you lose your browser session.

How do I set up a screen name?

There are no set screen names. Everyone is assigned a new random fruit name for each new comment thread and chat. Users commenting on their own posts are named "Author".

How do I search?

Click "Filter" at the top of the screen under "Boom." You can filter by location and features.

Chat

How does chat work?

Every fruit is a new person. Click on a fruit, type in a message, and start chatting. You get a new fruit name for each new person you talk with.

What do "Recent" and "Near" mean in chat?

The Recent list includes the people online who you’ve chatted with before. The Near list all the the other people online on LAL from your school. If you share your location or set it manually, the near list will show you who is closest to you on campus.

Why does LAL want to share my location?

It's a new feature that lets you chat with the people near you on campus (e.g. in the library with you). You can either share your location with us and have your location set automatically or manually set it in the chat window.

Can I turn location-sharing on and off?

Yes. You can always turn location-sharing on or off through the preferences on your browser.

How do Ignore and Report work in chat?

If you don't want to talk with someone, click Ignore User in the top right corner. If you need to report the user for any reason, click Ignore > Report > select a reason for reporting them.

How do I turn off location sharing?

  • Chrome: Open Preferences > "Under the Hood" > "Content Settings." On the left panel choose "location" under features and within "exceptions" you will see "likealittle.com" with action denied. You have to click on likealittle.com and remove it.
  • Safari: Open Preferences > the "Security" tab > uncheck the option to "allow websites to ask for local information".
  • Firefox: Navigate to the site to which you've given permission > Go to the Tools menu, then select Page Info > Select the Permissions tab > Change the setting for Share Location.
  • Internet Explorer: Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing > Internet Options > Privacy tab > check the box to "Never allow web sites to request your physical location" and click OK to save the settings.

What does the green check mark mean in the chat?

It means the user has been verified as a student from your school. They either registered with a .edu school email or shared your location and were verified on campus.

Can people see who you are when you chat to them?

No, you are completely anonymous. They only see your randomly generated fruit name.

My post is only showing on my computer. Why can’t my friends see it too?

If your post contained any words caught by our filters, it might be waiting for approval by the moderators. Please contact us on Live-Help.

How do I delete notifications?

Right now unless the post is deleted, you can’t delete notifications. But that feature is coming soon!

What's the point of the website?
